The painter she sat
With her hands in her lap
As her restless legs bounced on her feet

Sweat abseiled her face
As she watched the man pace
And anticipated his critique

He smiled and chuckled
Her nerves damn near buckled
Her fate now rested in his hands

He sat on her desk
And puffed out his chest
And abruptly put an end to her plans

Well she sat there and twitched
Like a composite glitch
Her eyes never leaving his face

She pictured his skin
On a frame stretched out thin
And left in a desolate place

He nervously gulped
As her blood turned to pulp
She threw herself out of her chair

In the blink of an eye
His agonised cry
Was cut short with brutalised flair

She tore through his throat
Like a horn from a goat
Her brush handle bounced off his spine

He slammed back on the table
She desperately ladled
The mountain of red from the rind

When the bleeding had stopped
She looked at the clock
And wondered how big she could go

She sized up his chest
Knew she'd discard the rest
And carefully carved his torso

She dragged out his leather
Into end of days weather
As the gods threw down blood from the sky

His upturned severed head
Was a palette of reds
For her brush to describe how he died

With a furious flourish
Her artwork was nourished
An apocalypse painted in blood

Her canvas of skin
Had summoned something
That would take over earth with a flood

She stepped back from her work
And screamed out those words
That would tie up her ritual at last

As she stood there beguiling
She found herself smiling
At the thought of erasing her past

Her feet felt the shaking
Of the broken earth quaking
And saw in the distance red waves

She held open her arms
With a new sense of calm
And waited on her end of days

And then the darkness came
